Friendship Posy DIY
Featured on Snippet & Ink here
Valentine’s day isn’t just for lovers – it’s a perfect time to acknowledge long lasting friendships and your love for those special ladies in your life. Give these hand-tied posies to your friends, bridesmaids, mothers, and grandmothers for a thoughtful and unexpected Valentine.
Materials
Floral Snips
Waterproof Floral Tape
Lace Fabric Squares
Ribbon
Flowers
5 Stems Garden Roses
1 Stem Ranunculus
3 Stems Greenery
1 Stem Veronica
Directions
1.) Clean your stems of thorns and any low-lying foliage. (It’s okay to leave foliage surrounding the bloom – this will help protect the blooms from bruising and also keep your posy from looking too structured.)
2.) Arrange your greenery. This will help act as a support and backing for your blooms.
3.) Add your blooms. I like to keep my bouquets looking a bit untamed and unstructured. To achieve this, arrange stems in a criss-cross pattern layering each bloom so that they do not touch or suffocate one another.
4.) Wrap floral tape around the base of your posy, below the flowers.
5.) Cut the bottom of your stems so that they are all the same length. I like to keep my stems rather short.
6.) Place your posy on your fabric square at an angle, placing the flowers in the topmost corner. Fold the left and right corners of the square over your stems to create a pocket for your flowers to sit in.
7.) Secure your fabric with a pretty silk ribbon or lace.
Tip: To add a personal touch to each posy you make, fill with the recipient’s favorite flowers, or use colors that remind you of your friendship.
